Splash! Spray! Sploosh!

A visit to the city's Splash Park confirms the age-old affinity of kids, summer and getting soaking wet in water spurting, squirting and dropping through the air.

On a warm summer afternoon, one place that children like to be is the . The park, completed last October, is part of the and provides a safe, enclosed environment for children to play, along with benches, shade, a freshly cut lawn and barbecue pit for parents. The accompanying photos captured some of the fun being had Wednesday afternoon, June 22.

We love Splash Park. I do think the admission cost is too high - if Rec Swim is also going on, it's $5.50 adults and $4 kid, with no resident discount. If no Rec Swim also, it's only $2, which seems reasonable until you realize that other cities with similar parks (Oakland, among others) don't charge admission at all. I wonder if this was covered in the grant the city received to build it.
