Early Morning Power Outage Affected Thousands of Customers in El Cerrito

The power has been restored to the majority of customers, according to PG&E.

PG&E is working to restore power to thousands of customers in El Cerrito this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

A power outage that initially affected 5,949 customers was reported around 4:20 a.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said. As of 6:15 a.m., power was restored to all but 127 customers, she said. The outage is affecting customers in an area including Gatto Street, Kensington Avenue, Elm Street, and Potrero Avenue, Morris said.

The outage was caused by equipment failure at the top of a pole, according to Morris. There is no estimated time of when power will be fully restored, she said.
