The Kensington Public Safety Council will present a talk on Animals in Disaster Preparedness on Thursday, March 21, at 7 pm at the Kensington Community Center, 59 Arlington Ave, Kensington, in the main room. This talk is free and open to all.
Noell Crosse, Contra Costa Animal Services Department, will discuss the roles and responsibility of Animal Control during a disaster or emergency and the capabilities of our County Animal Response Team. She will describe how to safely evacuate pets and how to create a plan so they do not end up becoming victims during a disaster.
Winnie Kelly, Animal Welfare & Wildlife Services Specialist, will discuss confining stray/wild injured animals safely and what to do, if anything, to keep stray/wild animals alive until you can get them to the appropriate wildlife facility.
Dr. Beth Phimister, Kensington Veterinary Hospital, will be addressing first-aid, handling injured animals, supplies to have on hand, and more.
