"Bizarre": El Cerrito Gate Speaks in French

We're not sure if this gate sign is a warning, a claim of distinction or a plea for sympathy.

On a shady residential street in the southernmost section of El Cerrito can be found a home with a tall fence and weathered wooden gate bearing a small white sign. It is a very little sign, edged in rust and unobstrusive except for the three words it offers in black letters: ATTENTION CHIEN BIZARRE.

Undoubtedly many readers have a better grasp of French than does the editor El Cerrito Patch, who believes the sign is offering some message about, or perhaps to, a most peculiar dog. We would welcome any light that anyone could shed in the comments section below.

Merci.
