Big Turnout At El Cerrito Library Town Hall Meeting

Dozens of people give their input on how the library can be more useful to the community

More than 50 people showed up at a town hall meeting this week to discuss ways to improve the El Cerrito Library.

Folks who attended the Monday night gathering discussed having the library open more hours, improving the technology available and expanding youth literacy programs, according to a story in the Contra Costa Times.

They were told by Contra Costa County library officials that tight budgets make it difficult to expand services even while demand is growing countywide, the Times reported.

The meeting was part of a series of town hall meetings at each of the county's 27 libraries to gather input from different communities.
