Superintendent Harter gives life to charter school movement

The County Board of Education has just approved the petition for another charter school, this one in El Cerrito, as reported here.

This comes soon after the recent complaint resolution against the WCCUSD for failing to comply with Title IX requirements, those laws in place for protecting our children from sexually harassing behavior on school campuses.   In short, Office of Civil Rights reported that our Superintendent failed to protect our children from sexual harassing behavior.

Many proponents of charter schools cite unsafe schools as a key factor in their decision to seek this alternative solution.  The findings of the Office of Civil Rights has added validity to the concerns of these charter school proponents.   To President Kronenberg, I respectfully request that you please find a Superintendent who will keep our children safe, and then you will hear less cries for charter schools.  Charter schools are a symptom, not a solution.
