Saint Mary's High Golf Tourney a Huge Success

The 29th Saint Mary’s College High School Golf Invitational held at the Richmond Country Club on Monday, September 16 drew more than 125 golfers from among the school’s alumni, parents, friends, coaches, faculty, and members of the student golf team.  Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for the school’s tuition assistance fund from event fees, a terrific silent auction that sold out even before the event, and a raffle with great prizes donated by many businesses and friends.  The top prize was a three-night stay at the Miramonte Resort and Spa in Palm Desert, with a round of golf at the nearby Toscana Golf Course in Indian Wells.  The lucky winner is the Berkeley mom, grandma, and aunt of fifteen Saint Mary’s alumni!  Another “legacy” family, from Albany, now with its third generation at Saint Mary’s, won the second prize Mac AirBook Laptop. Two big winners from the extended Saint Mary’s family!  A delightful “19th Hole” social and reception ended the day in the Clubhouse.  Special thanks to the Phil Doran family and Berkeley Police Department for their support of the tournament, named for Berkeley P.D. Capt. Phil Doran, Saint Mary’s Class of 1963, alumni dad of two, and twenty-five year Saint Mary’s golf coach who died in 2010.

Thanks from Saint Mary’s to everyone who participated in the tournament, auction, and raffle, and to the event committee, school staff, volunteers, donors, and the Richmond Country Club for a great day!  Join us next year for the 30th Anniversary Invitational.
