"Taste of El Cerrito" Enlivens Community Center
A Taste of El Cerrito, the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce annual fundraiser, attracted an enthusiastic crowd Sunday evening, catered by Café Soleil and highlighted by 17-year-old local magician Magical Nathaniel, who received a standing ovation.
An enthusiastic crowd dined on a three-course meal and enjoyed performances by a teenaged magician and an opera singer Sunday night at the "Taste of El Cerrito," the annual fundraiser by the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce.
The $40-per-person event at the El Cerrito Community Center drew about 130 diners and featured 17-year-old local magician Magical Nathaniel, who received a standing ovation, and mezzo soprano Alexis Lane Jensen, a graduate of El Cerrito High School who performed three compositions by Kurt Weill.
Public officials who attended included Councilwomen Janet Abelson and Rebecca Benassini, West Contra Costa Unified School District board member Madeline Kronenberg and Stege Sanitary District board member Al Miller.
The meal was catered by Cafe Soleil of El Sobrante and served by volunteers from the El Cerrito High Interact Club, cafe staff and Samantha Sager, daughter of event coordinator Judy Pope of D'Jour Floral & Antiques.
The evening also featured music by Chaz & Company, a silent auction and raffle prizes.
Taste of El Cerrito raises money for chamber operations and for scholarships for El Cerrito High School students.

Simple. The company is a member of the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber supports and promotes member businesses.
