Missing Juvenile Found in El Cerrito Without Gun
The 16-year-old was found Thursday afternoon, police said.
Police found John Scott, a missing Albany schools student, safe in El Cerrito earlier today, according to the Albany Police Department.
Detectives found him about 1:20 p.m., according to authorities.
Police are not releasing any additional information about where he was found, because he is a juvenile, said Community Engagement Specialist Karina Tindol.
John was taken into custody and his parents were notified, according to information put out by the police about 4:40 p.m.
"He has not been arrested, but he has not been released to his parents at this point," she said.
Police said they did not find the gun or ammunition reported stolen from the teen's El Sobrante home Wednesday, and that they will continue to look for it.
"He was found safe, and that was our main goal," Tindol said. "If he needs help, we'll work to get him help. Our biggest concern was always for his safety, as well as the safety of others around him."

As per the Albany Police Department at 8:30 a.m., the gun has not been found.
I have questions into the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department as far as the circumstances under which the gun was taken, but I have not heard back yet. I'm not sure if they will release anything about it, or if they can say they won't because the subject is a juvenile, but I'm hoping to get some details.

I'm hoping in all of the follow-up that the disposition of the gun is part of any deal or plea bargain he gets...as a probable first time offender, they will try to cut him slack, but he's still responsible for one more gun out there that could very well take a life.
