Men with Gun Rob Customers at ComputerTime

Patrons were ordered to lie on floor while robbers took their wallets. The El Cerrito Police Blotter for Feb. 11-18 also includes a street robbery, a home burglary, vehicle vs. brick wall on Arlington and possession of a weapon on school grounds.

February 11, 2013 

Robbery - San Pablo Avenue @ Cutting Boulevard 
A suspect approached the victim, showed them a gun, and told them to empty their pockets. The suspect fled after the victim gave the suspect their cellular telephone and cash. The victim described the suspect as an African American man, standing 6’02” tall, weighing 225 pounds, and wearing a black ski mask, a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. 

Domestic Violence – El Cerrito 
Officers investigated an incident of domestic violence and arrested the suspect during the early morning hours of the 12th. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the MDF.

February 12, 2013 

Residential Burglary – 6200 Block Jordan Avenue 
An unknown suspect entered and ransacked the victim’s residence, sometime between 1145 and 1545 hours. The suspect stole cash and cameras. 

Auto Burglary - El Cerrito Plaza 
An unknown suspect broke out the window to a Toyota Tacoma and stole clothing and a laptop between the hours 1400 - 2045. 

Auto Burglary - El Cerrito Plaza 
An unknown suspect broke out the window of Dodge Caliber, rifled through the interior but did not steal any items. The burglary occurred between the hours of 1300 - 2047. 

February 13, 2013 

Residential Burglary (Attempt) – 500 Block Norvell St 
An alert neighbor noticed a suspicious subject leaving the backyard of a residence, in the 500 block of Norvell St. The neighbor called the police. A nearby School Resource Officer located and detained the suspect while patrol officers investigated the residence. The suspect, a 14-year-old male from Richmond, attempted to kick in the rear door. Officers detained the juvenile and took him to Juvenile Hall. 

Auto Burglary – Nations, 6060 Central Avenue 
An unknown suspect smashed a window to the victim’s Subaru Forester and stole two pieces of luggage while it was in the parking lot between 1500 and 1530 hours. 

Auto Burglary – El Cerrito Plaza 
An unknown suspect smashed a window to the victim’s Mini Cooper and stole two backpacks from inside while it was in the parking lot between 1500 and 1530 hours. 

Delaying/Obstructing an Officer - Blake Street @ Kearney Street 
Officers arrested a 34-year-old man after he fled from officers during a pedestrian stop. Officers arrested and booked the man at ECPD. 

Driving Under the Influence - Knott Avenue @ Kearney Street 
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Menifee for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the ECPD. 

February 14, 2013 

Warrant Arrest - South 56th Street @ Cypress Avenue 
Officers arrested a 28-year-old female from Pinole on a warrant during a pedestrian contact. The female was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the MDF. 

Warrant Arrest - F Street @ Cypress Avenue 
A 28-year-old male from Oakland was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a suspicious person contact. The male was arrested and booked at the ECPD. 

Stolen Vehicle - 5300 block of Potrero Avenue 
Officers found a stolen Acura Integra at this location. 

February 15, 2013 

Possession of a weapon on school grounds - El Cerrito High School, 540 Ashbury Ave. 
At 10:25 am, school staff reported smelling an odor of marijuana coming from a student’s backpack. During a search of the male juvenile’s backpack, the School Resource Officer located a black semi automatic BB gun pistol. The School Resource Officer detained the juvenile at the El Cerrito Police Department and released him to his parents. 

Possession of marijuana on school grounds - El Cerrito High School, 540 Ashbury Ave. 
At 1:50 pm, a student left his backpack in a classroom at lunch and failed to return later to pick it up. Another student attempted to retrieve the backpack and a teacher confronted him. A search of the backpack revealed a small amount of marijuana. The male juvenile was detained at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to his parents. 

Petty Theft/Shoplifting – CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers accepted the citizen’s arrest of a juvenile who attempted to steal a bottle of alcohol from the business. The juvenile was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a guardian. 

February 16, 2013 

Driving Under the Influence and Warrant Arrest - Potrero Ave. at San Pablo Ave. 
At 7:29 am, El Cerrito Police Officers found a woman from American Canyon asleep behind the wheel of her Ford Explorer while waiting at a red light. A female front passenger from San Quentin was also asleep. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and the passenger had a burglary warrant for her arrest out of Napa. Both women were arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Hit and Run Collision - 2300 block of Arlington Blvd. 
At 9:37 am, a blue 1990’s Honda Civic, driven by a white male, jumped the curb, drove across the front walk of a house, a crashed into a brick wall. The impact damaged the wall and broke a water spigot. The man fled the scene by driving his car eastbound on Cutting Boulevard. He did not attempt to contact the owner of the residence. 

Possession of a Concealed Knife and Marijuana - 1200 block of Rivera St. 
At 1:47 pm, El Cerrito police officers contacted three males wandering in the area of the 1200 block of Rivera Street. A male from El Cerrito was found to be in possession of two sandwich-sized baggies of marijuana and a concealed 12-inch knife. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation. 

Drunk in Public – San Pablo Ave at Stockton Ave 
At 8:17pm, officers located an intoxicated adult man from Oakland. The man was unable to stand on his own and could not care for himself. Officers arrested the man and took him to the county jail. 

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle – Central Ave at Carlson Blvd 
At 9:21pm, officers arrested a man from Oakland for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave at Madison Ave 
At 1:12am, officer arrested a woman for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Officers booked the woman at the El Cerrito Police Department and released her to a sober friend. 

Driving Under the Influence – Blake St at Lexington Ave 
At 5:06am, officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident. Officers arrived on scene and located a man from El Cerrito. The man crashed into three parked cars and was determined to be heavily intoxicated. Officers arrested the man for driving under the influence, booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released him. 

February 17, 2013 

Possession of Marijuana - Baxter Creek Park 
At approximately 1:00pm, El Cerrito police officers working an undercover operation, observed two male subjects smoking marijuana in Baxter Creek Park. Uniformed officers contacted the males, who were from Richmond, and discovered that both subjects had marijuana in their pockets. The officers issued tickets to the subjects for possession of marijuana. 

Battery – 3000 block of Yolo Ave 
At 8:08pm, officers responded to the listed location to a call of a possible domestic violence. Officers located the victim at a neighbor’s home and she informed officers that her boyfriend assaulted her. Officers searched the area for the man but could not locate him. Minutes later, Officers learned that the man was back at his residence. They arrested him and booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department. 

Armed Robbery – Computer Time, 11299 San Pablo Ave 
At 10:25pm, officers responded to Computer Time for a report of an armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene and located victims and witnesses inside the business. Officers learned that two men entered the business armed with guns and ordered everyone to get on the ground. The robbers told the patrons to put their belongings on the ground, collected the customers’ wallets and money, and left the business on foot. 

February 18, 2013 

Stolen Vehicle (Report) – Marshall’s parking lot, 10794 San Pablo Ave. 
The victim’s 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV was being serviced by an auto body shop on San Pablo Avenue and the vehicle was parked in the Marshall’s parking lot. The owner of the business reported the vehicle stolen to the El Cerrito Police Department after he found it was missing. 

Battery and Resisting Arrest - El Cerrito Plaza 
A plaza security guard reported that during a verbal argument with a man, the man attempted to hit him and then threw rocks at him striking him in the leg. An El Cerrito police officer located the man on San Pablo Avenue at San Diego Street. The man disobeyed the officer and tried to run. Officers caught the man, arrested him, and took him to county jail. 

Automobile Theft – 200 block of Behrens 
The victim’s 1995 Honda Accord was stolen from the area. The vehicle was stolen between 7:45pm and 9:20pm. 

El Cerrito Police Officers attended, and assisted in a Tactical Communications seminar at Tehiyah School on Friday. The seminar was presented by Lt. Brown of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department and was attended by the Tehiyah School’s teachers, staff and administrators. 

Approximately 20 kids and parents from an El Cerrito Boy Scout Troop visited the El Cerrito Police Department on Saturday and took a tour of the police station. 

El Cerrito Police Officers conducted undercover surveillance operations and rode bicycles on routine patrol throughout the city over the weekend.
