Comment: Homage for Creedence Clearwater in Band's Hometown
Our reader poll on whether El Cerrito should do more to commemorate its internationally renowned hometown band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, struck a chord and received many votes and comments, including our Comment of the Week.
After last week's pilgrimage here by a group of 12 European fans seeking sites connected to Creedence Clearwater Revival, we published a poll Saturday asking readers if the city should do more to mark the legendary band's El Cerrito origin, "Poll: Should El Cerrito Do More to Commemorate Creedence Clearwater?"
The poll has been receiving a large number of votes and quite a few comments, including our Comment of the Week by T Booher below. The comment responds to two other comments, one by Ricardo Amor saying El Cerrito honors itself by honoring the city's "blue-collar treasure," and the other by Paul D saying the city should replace its plan to hang abstract art "junk" on streetlight poles with a plan to display the names and images of its "important and prominent musicians, artists, scientists and thinkers."
T Booher:
We can have both. Everything doesn't need to be either or. Honor CCR which as Ricardo points out honors El Cerrito too. Find ways to honor others AND have public art that is abstract and otherwise. I love our community. Let's keep things positive and constructive.
- Editor's note: The "Comment of the Week" doesn't necessarily reflect the view of El Cerrito Patch. It's chosen according to what we believe will be of general reader interest. For other examples from our "Comment of the Week" series, please click here.

I grew up in Florida, listened to CCR constantly. It was my go to road trip music, singing along to every word. I thought they were from the south, but being a resident of El Cerrito and knowing they are from here, I'm flabbergasted and so proud!! How awesome!!....CCR has it's roots here. Cool.
