Art Now on the Menu, or Walls, at El Cerrito's Brewpub

Elevation 66, the popular new brewpub on San Pablo Avenue, has also become an art venue with rotating shows of local art on the walls. Currently on display are works by Kevin Proctor, who also designed a poster and coasters for the pub.

The already diverse roster of places to see art by local artists in El Cerrito has acquired a new member — the brewpub on San Pablo Avenue.

The pub, which became instantly popular when it , has begun hosting rotating art exhibits of six to eight weeks each. The move puts Elevation 66 in the same club as the El Cerrito Library, City Hall, the Community Center and the El Cerrito office of the Department of Motor Vehicles, not to mention the local art galleries.

The current show — the brewpub's second so far — features the works of Kevin Proctor, an El Cerrito artist and landscape architect, who recently had an exhibit at City Hall. Proctor also designed a poster for Elevation 66 as well as coasters. (See attached images.)

"I think its great they are providing another place for local artists to show their work," Proctor told Patch.

Lucy Smith of El Cerrito, a diner at the pub last night, Thursday, said she especially liked the poster design, which incorporates a glass of beer in a topographical map, a reference to the pub's name, Elevation 66, which is taken from El Cerrito's supposed official elevation of 66 feet above sea level.
