Alleviate Freshman Homesickness with Patch

With two great ways of staying in touch with El Cerrito and Kensington, leaving the nest might get a little easier for college-bound students.

Moving away to college can be both exciting and scary. With new classes, new friends and a new environment, it's easy to get swept up in the madness of it all and feel that twinge of homesickness at the end of the day.

El Cerrito Patch has two great ways to help new and returning college students keep up on what's going on back in El Cerrito and Kensington. You can sign your student up for the El Cerrito Patch newsletter (click the Newsletters link at the bottom of our homepage), and those with iPhone and Android phones can add the Patch app for free (see links to instructions below).

With El Cerrito Patch providing coverage of high school activities, news from the school district and articles about the community, as well a variety of arts, music and food events in El Cerrito and Kensington, students might even be lured back home more often.

Some of our most loyal readers over the past year have been high school students, and we would love to stay connected wherever life may take them.

Unlike traditional universities that are based on accumulating credit hours, "High Speed University" students work at their own pace and move on when they have proven mastery of the subject matter. The average time to a bachelor's degree is two-and-a-half years, and the average cost is $15,000.
